| PERFORMING OPPORTUNITIES |
| Over the years, MCBC dancers have been awarded numerous dance scholarships. The company has produced several professional dancers performing internationally with prestigious dance companies. The Michigan Classic Ballet Company is proud to be the recipient of numerous grants, including an award in 2008 from the National Endowment for the Arts. Each year, The Nutcracker is performed in December. In the spring MCBC dancers perform in the Seasons of Spring concert, attend Regional Dance America's Mid-States Festival as well as Three's Company, a collaborative effort between three mid-west dance companies. As part of our commitment to education we also include lecture demonstrations and educational productions for area schools, introducing them to ballet through stories such as Alice in Wonderland. Regional Dance America Regional Dance America (RDA) was founded in 1988 to promote the artistic development of dance companies throughout the United States. The five regional organizations of RDA (the Mid-States, the Northeast, the Pacific, the Southeast, and the Southwest) hold festivals each year where member companies share four days of master-classes, lectures, seminars and social events. Evening performances are held showcasing the member companies, demonstrating the growth they have achieved throughout the year. These festivals provide each company's dancers with the opportunity to perform for a broader regional audience, take classes from world renown teachers, be seen by artistic directors associated with professional companies, present emerging choreography and audition for national scholarships to universities and summer dance programs. MCBC has consistently been awarded the privilege of performing at the prestigious Gala Performance and is an Honor Member of RDA. |
